According to the National Women’s History Alliance (NWHA), this theme “expands our understanding of sustainability beyond just environmental concerns. It encompasses financial sustainability, community resilience, leadership succession, and intergenerational equity.”

One of the four themes that directly aligns with our work with youth is intergenerational equity. The purpose of intergenerational equity is to ensure that “the present generation managers resources and the environment to meet their needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.”
