Topic: Topic: Community Involvement: Ways the Family Court can partner to engage the community

This presentation shares current strategies the 21st circuit uses to engage community partners, community members and to help divert the youth and families that they serve. As Yoder shares these strategies, he aligns the strategies with the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) and Family Court practices including Juvenile Conference Committee's (JCC) which are diversionary programs that utilize community-based restorative justice. He shares their efforts to involve community members to work with non-violent offenders, and Community Collaborative Meetings - designed to engage and inform a wide variety of Court-based community partners on Court related data and community needs. Yoder will openly share strategies to start and implement these types of programs in your jurisdictions, or how to collaborate with the Family Courts will be discussed.
